PECDT – Information and Background
The Trust is working to promote a strong sense of identity for our local community. It is the only voluntary organisation which aims to involve local people and organisations in activities and partnerships, to provide a focal point for development and to fight deprivation in Ponders End. It facilitates local capacity building, share information on funding initiatives and provides the opportunity to feed into local decision making processes. The PECDT grew out of the Ponders End Development Forum. It started in 1999 as a partnership between the London Borough of Enfield and local community representatives and groups. The Trust was registered as a Company limited by guarantee in June 2002.

The PECDT is the only voluntary organisation whose sole focus is improving the quality of life in Ponders End.
It aims to do that by:
- Finding out what people want
- Trying to make it happen by developing joint plans and projects
- Working to improve local networks and build partnerships
- Facilitate local participation and involvement
- Draw in resources and funding to put the PECDT Action Plan into practice
The Trust produces a quarterly newsletter The Pen (Ponders End Newsletter) to inform local residents of PECDT activities and the educational and networking opportunities in the area. It encourages local participation and involvement by organising festivals, events and activities.
